“Do It, Lady!”: Mindfulness, Masking & the Magic of Chit Energy

A love letter to the fearless, funny, and complicated versions of us all

Some days, I wake up ready to take on the world, blasting Pink Pony Club, brushing my teeth to the beat of confidence, and shouting “Do it, lady!” like I’m the main character in my own Tik Tok.

Other days… it takes a lot more.

See, the truth is: it takes a lot of masking for me to feel like “Chit” on the inside while appearing “normal” on the outside. And if you know, you know. The effort it takes to smile when you’re drained, to sparkle when you’re struggling, to laugh when your nervous system is in overdrive, that’s real. That’s survival.

But also?
Chit, that wild, fearless, hilarious character created by Jay Renshaw on the Groundlings, is still in there. And not afraid to let loose. My inner 'Chit' is non-apologetic and totally okay with being my loud, bold, joyful self. And I think there’s something beautifully mindful about that.

Mindfulness Isn’t Always Quiet

Sometimes, mindfulness isn’t about stillness at all, in fact it's about reclaiming your full self, especially the parts the world tells you to tone down.

Mindfulness is…

  • Putting down the mask when it feels safe enough to be seen.

  • Honoring the high-vibe, over-the-top energy of “Chit” without shaming the moments you don’t have it in you.

  • Giving yourself space to feel the in-between, to be both messy and magnetic.

So What If Mindfulness Looked Like This?

• Wearing red lipstick to the gas station because why the heck not?
• Saying “Nope. Not today.” because your peace matters more than people-pleasing.
• Doing the silly voice. Dancing in the kitchen. Cry-laughing with your best friend.
• Taking the mask off, just for you  and saying “I see you. You’re doing amazing.”

Mindful Affirmation (Chit Style)
“Do it lady!"

 Journal Prompt:
What version of me have I been hiding to feel “safe” or “palatable”?
What would it feel like to let just a little more of her out this week?

So whether you're feeling like Chit, acting like Chit, or barely holding it together while whispering "Do it, lady…" under your breath — know this:

You don’t have to be fearless to be powerful.
You don’t have to be loud to be real.
You just have to be you — layered, luminous, and learning.

And that? That’s the most mindful thing of all.

Love & Light,

Coach Jo 🩷
