Some people call them coincidences. I call them signs. Not always the kind you’re actively looking for but the kind that find you anyway. The ones that weave themselves into your day so unexpectedly that you can’t help but stop and smile, wondering, “Was that for me?”
A Day Full of Winks
Yesterday was one of those magical days. I hosted a lemonade stand with my NextGen summer camp kids, and it was a total hit a day full of laughter, teamwork, and more community love than I could have ever imagined. Later that morning, while driving to work, I was listening to a podcast featuring Chelsea Handler. Out of nowhere, she starts talking about how her hustle began with… a lemonade stand. Hers took a wildly unexpected turn (a hilarious story, by the way, you can read it in her book “I’ll Have What She’s Having”), but something about it struck me. She made me laugh and she inspired me, too. It will definitely be listening to it on my drives to and from work!
Then, while working on a blog about self-reflection and my past relationship, I was deep in thought, typing about “Mirroring the past” when I passed my very first car on the highway. I knew it was mine because it was a silver, Chevy Cobalt that my dad had painted the trim and symbols black and I recognized it instantly. Plus I know the man who bought it off of my dad years later and it looks like he still has it! Honestly though, what are the odds? Her I am driving to work in my fancy Mercedes and pass the vehicle that started it all for me! The vehicle that got me to the city where my whole life changed. And just when I thought the universe had had its fun, there was one more nudge. I’d been thinking about this silly, tongue-twisting phrase from Mary Poppins, you know, “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” one of my NextGen leaders had said it during a game of telephone but I couldn’t for the life of me even say it. Later that night, while hanging out with my husband, he says it perfectly. Out of the blue. No prompting. I just sat there thinking, Okay… what is going on here?
Signs, Synchronicities, and Gentle Nudges
I could call them coincidences. But I don’t believe in “just” coincidences anymore. These moments feel like little taps on the shoulder from the universe, guardian angels, or maybe even loved ones who’ve passed (thank you mum)! They’re small reminders that we’re not walking this journey alone.
I don’t always know exactly what they mean. But I do know this:
-
They tend to show up when my heart is full of questions.
-
They arrive when I need encouragement to keep going.
-
They remind me that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be, even if I can’t see the full map yet.
How to Sit With the Signs
When these things happen, I try not to overthink them. Instead, I:
-
Pause and acknowledge the moment. Fulling allowing myself to feel the gratitude.
-
Write it down in a journal or notes app, so I can see patterns over time.
-
Stay curious instead of forcing the meaning, I ask, “Universe, what could this be showing me?”
-
Let it be a gift and simply enjoy the magic of the moment.
The Takeaway
Maybe these “coincidences” are the universe’s way of saying, “You’re doing okay. Keep going.” Or maybe they’re breadcrumbs leading us toward people, places, and opportunities we’re meant to find. Either way, I’m choosing to see them as love notes from the unseen. And right now? I feel like I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
I invie you to:
Pay attention to the little moments that make you pause. Write them down. See if a story starts to emerge. You might just realize that you’ve been receiving gentle guidance from the Univers all along.
Cheers,
Coach Jo 🩷
